Donuts in the Breakroom is a small experimental prototype made for Social Deduction Multiplayer Game Jam following the idea of an office-themed social deduction game featuring hidden roles, deception, and social deduction. The game is playable online with up to 12 players.

The game is centered around secret motives, investigative discussion, and a box of delicious donuts. Will you outsmart, outwit, or outlast your coworkers to ultimately secure your success?

At the beginning of the game, each player is secretly assigned a role corresponding to their conditions for winning the game. There are 7 unique roles:

  1. Gluttony wants to eat the most.
  2. Wrath wants to be fired, will end the game.
  3. Greed wants the most cumulative votes.
  4. Pride wants the least cumulative votes.
  5. Envy wins if their random target does not win.
  6. Lust wins if their random target wins.
  7. Sloth wins if there are leftover donuts at the end of the game.

The game has two phases: The Eating Phase and The Meeting Phase.

During The Eating Phase, players take turns (in a predetermined but unknown order) at the box of donuts. You can cut a donut in half with right-click and eat a donut with left-click, eating a donut will end your turn. Take note of how many donuts are present before your actions and how many will remain afterwards, this information may come in handy as good evidence or a strong alibi. Once each player has had their turn, the game proceeds to The Meeting Phase.

During The Meeting Phase, all players are able to observe the current state of the box of donuts. Now is a good chance to discuss, interrogate, and argue over who may or may not have left enough donuts for the rest of the team. The Meeting Phase ends with a vote, the player with the most votes is fired from the team and is eliminated from the game (nobody is fired if votes are tied). Vote for another player by left-clicking the icon with their name. The votes are tallied when all active players have voted, a new round starts shortly after.

There are 3 conditions that will end the game:

  1. There are no more donuts remaining.
  2. There are not enough coworkers to continue (2 players or less).
  3. The special Wrath role was fired.
